Caribbean Agava

Augustifolia cv. Marginata a common variety with sharply toothed yellowish leaf edges.
Average to warm (60-90*F, 19-32*C) all year.
Bright light is preferable; some species will tolerate reduced light intensities for extended periods. This is usually done when containers are overgrown by agaves, to dry out process before propagation procedure.
Allow soil to approach dryness between watering’s when growing in spring ad summer. Water less in winter.
Fertilize monthly from spring till summer; no need for food in winter.
A mixture of equal parts of coarse sand and general house plant soil.
Maybe propagated by breaking off and separating suckers that appear at the base of the
large plant.
Plant outside also in the sun. Keep weeds from gathering around and under the agave.
Put cedar mulch around plant. Saw off old leaves as they die. This will prevent snakes and insects from making a permanent home. Rinse agave every so often.
You can every once a year in spring, wipe leaves with cloth, using 1/4 cup milk to half gallon of water. Use mixture as shining agent to beautify your plant, and to dust off any insect eggs. Do not forget to wear gloves. Agaves are sharp edged.
