God’s character and his deeper, eternal Law do not change, but how he interacts with us and what instructions he gives us sometimes do change based on changing circumstances. The law is God’s perfect standard of obedience and holiness as described in the commands, statutes, and ordinances given to those who worship and serve Him. The very first “law” was given in the Garden of Eden when God told Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17 Easy English Bible> And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”). God’s commands are His laws.
It reads in Luke 16:14 Easy English Bible> The Pharisees were listening to all these things. They criticized Jesus because they all loved money. Jesus said to them, “You make yourselves look good in front of people. But God knows what is really in your hearts. What people think is important is worth nothing to God. “Before John the Baptizer came, people were taught the Law of Moses and the writings of the prophets. But since the time of John, the Good News about God’s kingdom is being told. And everyone is trying hard to get into it. But even the smallest part of a letter in the law cannot be changed. It would be easier for heaven and earth to pass away.
