When Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples during the Last Supper, he declared that they were partaking in his body and blood, symbolizing the Eucharist. This act holds deep meaning within Christian tradition, foreshadowing Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for the redemption of humanity’s sins, as described in the gospel of John.

Matthew 26:17,Mark 14:12, Easy English Bible> The first day of the festival when the Jews eat flatbread arrived. Jesus’ disciples came to him and they asked him, ‘Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you to eat?’
Matthew 26:20 EasyEnglish Bible> When it was evening, Jesus and the 12 apostles sat down to eat the Passover meal together.
Acts 10:41 EasyEnglish Bible> Not all the people saw him. God chose us to be Jesus’ apostles and we saw him. Now we are telling people about all these things. We ate and drank with Jesus after he became alive again.

It reads in Luke 22:7-23 The day came for Jewish people to eat the meal of flat bread which has no yeast in it. They had to kill a young sheep for the Passover meal on that day. So Jesus said to Peter and John, ‘Go and prepare the Passover meal for us to eat. Then we can all come and eat it.’ They asked him, ‘Where do you want us to prepare the meal?’ Jesus replied, ‘Listen. When you go into the city, a man will meet you. He will be carrying a jar of water. Follow him until he goes into a house. You must then say to the master of that house, “Our Teacher sends this message to you: ‘Where is the room for visitors? I will eat the Passover meal there with my disciples.’ ” The man will then show you a large room upstairs. It will have all that you need in it. Prepare the Passover meal there for us all.’ So Peter and John went into the city. They found everything that Jesus had told them about. So they prepared the Passover meal. When it was time to eat the meal, Jesus arrived. He sat down with his apostles to eat it. He said to them, ‘I have wanted very much to eat this Passover meal with you. It has to happen before I die. I tell you this: I will not eat another Passover meal in this world. Now it is a picture. But when God begins to rule in his kingdom, then this meal will become real. I will eat it again then.’ Then Jesus took a cup and he thanked God for the wine. ‘Take this cup,’ he said to them. ‘Each of you drink some wine from it. I tell you this. I will not drink wine again until God begins to rule in his kingdom.’ Then he took a loaf of bread and he thanked God for it. He broke the bread into pieces and he gave some of it to each of them. He said, ‘This is my body. I am giving it to save you. When you eat this meal from now on, remember me.’ After supper, Jesus took a cup of wine and did the same thing. He said to the disciples, ‘This cup shows the new promise that God makes because of my death. When I die, my blood will pour out of my body. I will do that for you. But look! The person who will give me to the rulers is sitting at the table with me. He is eating the same food as I am. The Son of Man must die in the way that God says. But it will be very bad for the man who gives me to my enemies.’ The 12 apostles asked each other, ‘Who is the man that would do this thing?’

Revelation 19:9 EasyEnglish Bible> Then the angel said to me, ‘Write down this message: “There will be a special meal at the Lamb’s wedding party. God has truly blessed those people that he has asked to come to that meal.” ’ The angel also said to me, ‘This is a true message from God.’
Matthew 26:29 EasyEnglish Bible> I tell you this. I will not drink wine again until I drink it with you in my Father’s kingdom. Then it will be a new wine. ( Most Christians still meet for special meals to remember what Jesus did for them. They obey Jesus. They eat bread and drink wine together. And they think about when Jesus died for them.)

Psalm 41:9 EasyEnglish Bible> Even my special friend has turned against me.
He was someone that I trusted. I often ate food with him in my home. (Jesus used these words to speak about Judas.)

John 13:21-26 Easy English Bible> (Jesus tells the disciples what will happen to him) After Jesus had said this, he felt very upset. He said to the disciples very seriously, ‘I tell you this: One of you will help my enemies to take hold of me.’ The disciples looked at each other. They did not know which of them Jesus was speaking about. The disciple that Jesus loved was sitting very near to Jesus. Simon Peter looked towards that disciple and said to him, ‘Ask Jesus who he is speaking about.’ So that disciple moved even nearer to Jesus and he asked, ‘Who is it, Lord?’ Jesus answered, ‘I will put a piece of bread in the dish of food. Then I will give the bread to him. That is the man.’ So he put a piece of bread in the dish. Then he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. (In the plan of God) Acts 2:23 EasyEnglish Bible> God knew that Jesus’ enemies would give him to you. God had decided that this should happen. You let people who do not obey God’s Law fix him to the cross. In that way you killed him.
