John 7:40 Prophet They probably meant the prophet that God told Moses he would send. It reads in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 Easy-to-Read Version: The Lord your God will send to you a prophet. This prophet will come from among your own people, and he will be like me. You must listen to him. God will send you this prophet because that is what you asked him to do. When you were gathered together at Mount Horeb, you became frightened and said, ‘Don’t let us hear the voice of the Lord our God again! Don’t let us see that great fire or we will die!’ “The Lord said to me, ‘What they ask for is good. I will send them a prophet like you. This prophet will be one of their own people. I will tell him what he must say, and he will tell the people everything I command. This prophet will speak for me, and I will punish anyone who refuses to listen to my commands.’ Lord You have told us the end from the beginning through many prophets who, like Moses, faithfully spoke Your Words. Jesus Who came to earth as the ultimate Prophet, Priest, and King. Jesus is the living Word, Who only spoke those things that He heard from You Lord, and Your Word, which instructs us in godly living, and provides all we need to live godly in Christ Jesus.
It reads in John 7:40-44 Easy> When the people heard the things that Jesus said, some of them said, “This man really is the Prophet.” Other people said, “He is the Messiah.” And others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee. The Scriptures say that the Messiah will come from the family of David. And they say that he will come from Bethlehem, the town where David lived.” So, the people did not agree with each other about Jesus. Some of the people wanted to arrest him. But no one tried to do it.
