Peter denied knowing Jesus. Jesus wouldn’t deny Peter. Jesus Christ set us an example of meekness in sufferings, and a pattern of submission to God’s will in everything that concerns us. It is but a cup, a small matter. It is a cup that is given us; sufferings are gifts. Gifts that can turn in to blessings and miracles. It is given us by a Father, who has a father’s authority, and does us no wrong; a father’s affection, and means us no hurt.
It reads in John 18:15-18 Easy: Simon Peter and another one of Jesus’ followers went with Jesus. This follower knew the high priest. So he went with Jesus into the yard of the high priest’s house. But Peter waited outside near the door. The follower who knew the high priest came back outside and spoke to the gatekeeper. Then he brought Peter inside. The girl at the gate said to Peter, “Are you also one of the followers of that man?” Peter answered, “No, I am not!” It was cold, so the servants and guards had built a fire. They were standing around it, warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them.
