Earthly riches and the corrupt systems built on them are fleeting. True value lies elsewhere. Merchants of the earth mourning over the fall of Babylon. They weep because no one buys their luxurious goods anymore. Items like precious stones, silver, gold, fine linen, and spices. The merchants had become rich through their trade with Babylon, but now that Babylon is destroyed, all their wealth is gone. They stand at a distance, terrified by her torment, and cry out, “Woe, woe to the great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones, and pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!”
It reads in Revelation 18:11-17 Easy: The traders of this world will also be very sad. They will weep because nobody will buy their things any more. They sold many expensive things like these: Things made from gold and silver. Valuable stones and pearls. Good linen and other kinds of expensive cloth that is red or purple. Things made from wood that has a nice smell. Many different things that are made from ivory. Many kinds of things that people had made from expensive wood, from different metals and from stone. Different kinds of spice and incense, like myrrh and frankincense. Wine, olive oil, expensive flour and wheat. Cows and sheep. Horses and chariots. Human slaves. The people who sold these things will say to the city, ‘You have now lost all the good things that you wanted so much. You have lost all those expensive things that made you beautiful. You will never have them again.’ The traders had become rich because of the city. But now they will stand a long way from the city because they are afraid. They do not want to suffer in the same way themselves. They will weep and they will be very sad. They will say, ‘Bad trouble has come to you, Babylon! Great city! It is very bad for you! You wore beautiful clothes that were made from good linen. You wore bright things that made you look beautiful. You shone with gold, valuable stones and pearls. But in one single hour God has destroyed all those valuable things.’
Father God, Keep a hedge of angels around my children, grandchildren and all those that you have placed in my care and prayers. Guide the right people in their life to encourage them, bless them and sway them away from evil. Keep them away from influences in this adulterous world so they may not fall into sin nor receive Your judgement or wrath. Keep them from death, mourning, or the famine of Your consuming fire. Always let them rejoice in Your justice and mighty power in their lives. I love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
