The genealogies of Shem, who is one of Noah’s sons. These verses outline the descendants of Shem and are significant as they are believed to include the ancestors of the Israelites. Shem: He is introduced as the ancestor of all the children of Eber, who is traditionally considered the ancestor of the Hebrews. Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram: These are some of Shem’s sons. Their descendants spread out to form various tribes and nations. Eber: From Eber’s line come Peleg and Joktan. It’s said that during Peleg’s time, the earth was divided, which might refer to a significant event or migration. Joktan’s Descendants: The verses list many descendants of Joktan who settled in regions stretching from Mesha to Sephar in the eastern mountainous region. These genealogies are essential in the Bible as they trace the lineage from Shem down to Abraham and eventually to the Israelites, establishing a historical and theological link between Noah and the nation of Israel.

It reads in Genesis 10:21-32 Easy: Shem also had sons. Shem was Japheth’s older brother. All the sons of Eber are descendants of Shem. These are the sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. These are the sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. Arphaxad was the father of Shelah. Shelah was the father of Eber. Eber had two sons. The name of one son was Peleg. When he was alive, people began to live in different places on the earth. That is why his name was Peleg. ( Peleg means to go away from each other.) Peleg’s brother’s name was Joktan. Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All those were Joktan’s sons. The land where they lived went from Mesha to Sephar. This is in the land with hills in the east. These are the descendants of Shem. They lived in groups in their own parts of the land. Each group spoke their own language. All these people are descendants of Noah’s sons, and their children. They went to live in different parts of the earth and their children became different nations. This happened after God covered the earth with water and then the water went away.
