Genesis the first book of the Bible, is rich with promises made by God. Here are the first six key promises:
To Adam and Eve: In Genesis 1:28-29, God blesses Adam and Eve and promises them dominion over the earth and its creatures. He also promises them every seed-bearing plant and fruit tree for food.
To Adam and Eve: In Genesis 3:15, after the fall, God promises that the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head, which is often interpreted as the first prophecy of the Messiah and the ultimate defeat of evil.
To Noah: In Genesis 6:18, God promises Noah to establish a covenant with him, saving Noah, his family, and a pair of every living creature from the flood.
To Noah: In Genesis 9:11, after the flood, God promises Noah that He will never again destroy all life on earth with a flood and establishes the rainbow as the sign of this covenant.
To Abraham: In Genesis 12:2-3, God promises Abraham that He will make him into a great nation, bless him, make his name great, and that all peoples on earth will be blessed through him.
To Abraham: In Genesis 15:5-6, God promises Abraham numerous descendants, as countless as the stars in the sky, and that his descendants will inherit the land ofCanaan.
These promises lay the foundation for many key themes throughout the Bible, such as covenant, redemption, and blessings.
