Rachel dies giving birth to Benjamin, naming him Ben-Oni, which Jacob changes to Benjamin, meaning ‘son of my right hand’. Jacob buries Rachel near Bethlehem. Reuben, Jacob’s son, dishonors his father by sleeping with Bilhah, his father’s concubine. Jacob finally reunites with his father, Isaac, who then passes away at 180 years old. Esau and Jacob bury Isaac together.

It reads in Genesis 35:16-29 Easy: After Rachel died, they buried near the road that goes to Ephrath.Jacob set up a special stone over the place where they buried Rachel. This stone still shows the place. Israel then travelled on again. He put up his tents beyond Migdal Eder. While Israel stayed there, his son Reuben had sex with Bilhah. She was Israel’s slave wife, and Israel heard what had happened. Jacob had 12 sons: The sons of Leah were Jacob’s firstborn, Reuben, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. The sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin. The sons of Rachel’s servant, Bilhah, were Dan and Naphtali. The sons of Leah’s servant, Zilpah, were Gad and Asher. Those were Jacob’s sons who were born to him in Paddan Aram. Jacob arrived back at his father Isaac’s home. This was in Mamre, also called Kiriath Arba, or Hebron. It was the place where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. Isaac lived for 180 years. Then he died and he joined his ancestors. He was an old man who had lived a long life. His sons, Esau and Jacob, buried him.

Father God, Just as Jacob turned to You in his sorrow, we come before You now, carrying the weight of grief and loss. The pain feels heavy, and moving forward can seem impossible, but we trust in Your presence and Your unending love. Hold our hearts close, remind us that You are near, and strengthen us to walk this difficult path. Bring comfort to those who mourn, peace to those who are struggling, and hope to those who feel lost. Let Your love be the refuge we need, the light in the darkness, and the promise that sustains us. Help us to understand that life here is only a reflection of the eternal life You have prepared for us. Father Love, guide us through this journey of healing. Teach us patience, perseverance, and faith. May we find rest in Your arms, knowing that our future belongs to You, safe and secure. We give You all the honor and glory, trusting in Your goodness today and forever. Thank You and praise You in Jesus precious name Amen.
