Jacob sends Joseph to check on his brothers as they tend their flocks near Shechem. However, when they see him approaching, their jealousy over his dreams and their father’s favoritism drives them to plot against him. Mockingly calling him “this dreamer,” they conspire to throw him into a pit and deceive their father by claiming he was devoured by a wild animal. This passage reflects themes of envy, betrayal, and destiny, Joseph’s prophetic dreams make him a target of resentment, yet his brothers’ actions unknowingly set the stage for his eventual rise to power in Egypt. Their cruelty becomes part of a greater plan, illustrating how challenges can lead to unexpected redemption. It’s very likely that Joseph cried out in desperation, feeling abandoned and betrayed. But even in that dark moment, God was listening. His suffering wasn’t ignored, it was part of a larger plan to bring him to greatness.

Joseph’s journey reminds us that when we face challenges, even in moments of deep pain, God hears us and has a purpose beyond what we can see. Just like He did for Joseph, He can turn trials into triumphs.

It reads in Genesis 37:12-20 Easy: One day Joseph’s brothers went to Shechem to care for their father’s sheep. Jacob said to Joseph, “Go to Shechem. Your brothers are there with my sheep.”Joseph answered, “I will go.” His father said, “Go and see if your brothers are safe. Come back and tell me if my sheep are all fine.” So Joseph’s father sent him from the Valley of Hebron to Shechem. At Shechem, Joseph got lost. A man found him wandering in the fields. The man said, “What are you looking for?” Joseph answered, “I am looking for my brothers. Can you tell me where they are with their sheep?” The man said, “They have already gone away. I heard them say that they were going to Dothan.” So Joseph followed his brothers and found them in Dothan. Joseph Sold Into Slavery Joseph’s brothers saw him coming from far away. They decided to make a plan to kill him. They said to each other, “Here comes Joseph the dreamer. We should kill him now while we can. We could throw his body into one of the empty wells and tell our father that a wild animal killed him. Then we will show him that his dreams are useless.”

“Lord Jesus, help me to trust in Your plans, even when faced with jealousy, betrayal, or hardships. Give me the courage and strength to rise above resentment and faith to believe that every challenge can lead to greater purpose. Teach my mind You gave me as a gift to walk in wisdom, love, and patience, knowing that You are guiding my path. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Precious Name Amen and Amen.”
