Joseph introduces his father and brothers to Pharaoh. The brothers explain they are shepherds and ask to live in Goshen due to famine. Pharaoh agrees and offers them the best land, even asking some to care for his own livestock.

It reads in Genesis 47:1–6 Easy: Joseph went to Pharaoh. He told him, ‘My father and brothers have arrived from Canaan. They have come with their animals and everything that belongs to them. They are now in Goshen.’ Joseph took five of his brothers to go with him to meet Pharaoh. Pharaoh asked the brothers, ‘What is your job?’ The brothers replied, ‘We are shepherds, sir. We take care of animals, just like our ancestors did.’ They also said to Pharaoh, ‘We have come to stay here for a short time because there is a bad famine in Canaan. Our animals do not have any grass to eat there. Please sir, let’s stay in Goshen.’ Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Your father and your brothers have now come to you. The whole land of Egypt is here for them. Your father and your brothers should stay in the best part of the land. They may live in Goshen. Choose the best shepherds from among them to take care of my own animals.’

Father God, of every land and season, You who guided Joseph through shadow and splendor, We give thanks and praise    for Your mercy that prepares a place, even in foreign soil, for family to flourish. As Joseph stood before Pharaoh, speaking not only for himself but for those he loved, may we, too, have courage to advocate with grace, Trusting Your hand is present in every conversation. You softened the heart of a king, To offer pasture during famine, remind us that Your favor reaches across nations, no border can block Your provision. Let Goshen be more than a place, Let it be a symbol of Your generous heart, A space where shepherds and dreamers find rest, Where legacy and compassion dwell side by side. Bless the ones who wander in search of hope, those who receive them with kindness. May we be bearers of peace, like Joseph, May every act of welcome echo Your divine hospitality. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus precious Name Amen and Amen.
