Issachar, a strong donkey, symbolizes strength and endurance, choosing rest and work over freedom, reflecting servitude for comfort. This evokes a poem of quiet labor and surrender, perhaps a prayer for wisdom in choosing rest over bondage. Jacob’s blessings are poetic and intricate, portraying Issachar as a sturdy donkey who opts for peaceful settlement rather than ambition or warfare. However, this choice comes with a price: he becomes subject to others’ demands, carrying burdens that may not fully be his own.
It reads in Genesis 49:14-15 Easy: Issachar is like a strong donkey that is lying down between two of its bags. He will see that he has a good place to live, with good land. Then he will agree to work hard. He will work like a slave for other people.
Father God of strength and stillness, you see the burdens we carry. Like Issachar, we rest between challenges and blessings, sometimes taking on work that isn’t ours. Grant us wisdom to distinguish meaningful service from silent surrender. Teach us to rest without losing our voice and to help others only as your mercy guides. Let our burdens have purpose, and our strength remain clear and heard. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen and Amen.
