The sixth plague sent by God to Egypt was painful boils on both humans and animals. Unlike previous plagues, it came without warning and directly afflicted the Egyptians themselves, highlighting a move from environmental harm to personal suffering. This event underscores the consequences of oppression and the reach of divine justice.
It reads in Exodus 9:8-12 Easy:Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Take in your hands some ashes from an oven. Throw them up in the air as Pharaoh watches. They will become very small dust over the whole country of Egypt. The dust will cause boils to appear on the skin of people and animals. It will happen all over Egypt.’So they took ashes from an oven and they stood in front of Pharaoh. Moses threw the ashes up in the air. Then bad boils appeared on both people and animals. All the Egyptians had boils, even the magicians. Because of the boils, the magicians could not stand in front of Moses. But Pharaoh refused to listen to Moses and Aaron. The Lord caused Pharaoh’s mind to be hard. The Lord had told Moses that this would happen, and it did!
Father God, of fire and dust, You speak through soot and silence. Through boils that break pride and reveal Your hand. You do not forget the cries of the oppressed, nor do You ignore the arrogance of hardened hearts. Let the dust of affliction remind us: You are not mocked! You are not distant! You are the God who sees, who acts, who heals. Where injustice festers, let Your justice rise. Where wounds burn, let Your mercy flow. Where pride resists, let Your Spirit soften. We do not fear Your hand; Father we welcome Your refining touch. Make us vessels of compassion, not agents of cruelty. Let our lives testify to Your power, not provoke Your judgment. We stand in awe! We bow in reverence! We walk obedience! Love You, thank You, praise You, and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus name, amen and Amen.
