“You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God.”

Meaning: It reads in Exodus 20:7 Easy:

“You must not use the name of the Lord your God to make empty promises. If you do, the Lord will not let you go unpunished.

Honor God’s name. Don’t use it casually, carelessly, or manipulatively. Don’t attach His name to promises you don’t intend to keep, or to things He never said. Let your words reflect reverence, truth, and sincerity.

Heart Reflection:

God’s name is not a decoration for our sentences — it is holy. It carries His character, His faithfulness, His presence. When we speak His name, we are touching something sacred. This commandment invites us to slow down, to speak with intention, and to let our lives match the weight of the words we say.

Poetic Line:

May my lips speak Your name with the same reverence my heart feels.

Prayer:

“Lord, teach me to honor Your name in every word I speak. Let my promises be true, my tone be gentle, and my heart be aligned with Your holiness. May Your name be safe and sacred on my tongue.” In Jesus Precious Name Amen.
