“You must not steal.”

Meaning: It reads in Exodus 20:15 Easy: “You must not steal anything.

Respect what belongs to others. Do not take anything — possessions, time, trust, dignity, or credit — that is not yours. Stealing is not only about objects; it is about the posture of the heart toward fairness, honesty, and responsibility.

God calls us to be people who give more than we take, who build trust rather than break it, and who walk in integrity even when no one is watching.

Heart Reflection:

There are many ways to steal without touching a single item:

  • taking someone’s peace with harsh words
  • taking someone’s joy with jealousy
  • taking someone’s trust with dishonesty
  • taking someone’s time with irresponsibility
  • taking someone’s dignity with disrespect

This commandment invites us to live with open hands and honest hearts. It reminds us that everything we have is a gift from God, and everything others have is a gift to them. We honor God when we honor those boundaries.

Poetic Line:

Integrity is the quiet treasure I carry wherever I go.

Prayer:

“Lord, make my heart honest and my hands clean. Teach me to respect what belongs to others and to walk in integrity in every choice I make. Let my life reflect Your fairness, Your generosity, and Your truth.” In Jesus Precious Name Amen.
