It Exodus 21:30–32 Easy: But if the dead person’s family demands money, the man can give them money instead of his life. He must pay them what they ask for. This law is the same if the bull attacks someone’s son or their daughter. If it attacks a male slave or a female slave, the man must pay 30 silver coins to the slave’s master. You must also throw stones at the bull to kill it.
These verses show how God handled harm caused by negligence. If someone was responsible for a death, they could pay a ransom to spare their own life. Whether the victim was a child or a servant, the law applied fairly. God’s justice doesn’t play favorites. Every life matters. Every person deserves dignity. And when harm is done, restitution must reflect the value of the life lost. This passage reminds us: This works well as teaching on justice and human dignity. Justice must be consistent. Mercy must be thoughtful. And every person matters to God.
Lord Jesus, You see every life and every loss. Teach us to honor others with fairness, mercy, and truth. When harm is done, help us respond with justice that heals and love that restores. May our hearts reflect Your value for every person. Thank You Amen.
