Joseph advises Pharaoh on how to prepare for the coming famine. After interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams, Joseph suggests appointing a wise and discerning leader to oversee Egypt’s resources. He recommends storing a portion of the harvest during the seven years of abundance so that there will be enough food during the seven years of famine. The importance of foresight, planning, and wise leadership in times of prosperity to safeguard against future hardships.
It reads in Genesis 41:33-36 Easy:
“And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.”
Father God, thank You and praise You for dreams that can prepare us, even if we don’t understand them, we can always ask about them. We seek guidance and discernment to make wise decisions for the future, just as one would prepare for the years ahead. It is important to plan with confidence rather than fear, trusting in our ability to navigate both times of abundance and poverty. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name amen.
