“You may eat everything that lives in the sea or in a river that has fins and scales. But you must not eat anything that lives in the sea or in a river and does not have fins and scales. Just the thought of eating such a creature should make you sick. This will never change. So don’t ever eat meat from anything like that. Don’t even touch its dead body! It is a sickening thought for you to touch anything that lives in the water and does not have fins and scales. Leviticus 11:9-12 ERV:
These verses draw attention to God’s ordering of creation, what lives in the water with fins and scales is set apart as clean, while other creatures are treated differently. The law invites the people to pay attention to God’s design and to live by distinctions that shape identity and community. Today, let this remind you that spiritual formation often comes through simple, concrete practices of discernment: choosing what aligns with God’s ways, and letting those choices form your character and witness.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, give me eyes to see Your good design and the wisdom to live by it. Help my daily choices reflect Your holiness and shape me into the person You call me to be. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the Honor and Glory in Your Precious Name Amen.
