Respect for life and trust in God lie at the heart of this command. Avoiding meat with blood still in it honors the life that was given, and refusing divination rejects attempts to control the future apart from God. Both instructions call us to holy living, to treat what is sacred with care and to seek God’s guidance rather than secret arts. When you feel tempted to grasp for certainty, pause and choose faithfulness: God is the one who holds tomorrow. One day at a time sweet Jesus.
