Leviticus 27:26-27 ERV: “You can give cattle and sheep as special gifts to the Lord. But if the animal is firstborn, it already belongs to the Lord. So, you cannot give these animals as special gifts. If the firstborn animal is an unclean animal, you must buy back that animal. The priest will decide the price of the animal, and you must add one-fifth to that price. If you don’t buy that animal back, the priest will sell the animal for whatever price he decides.
God taught His people that what belonged to Him should be treated as holy. The unclean firstborn animal could be bought back at its assessed value with one-fifth added, or it could be sold. May we never take God’s blessings for granted but gratefully dedicate our lives and possessions to His glory.
