Numbers 5:1–4 ERV: The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people to send away from the camp anyone who is unclean, that is, anyone who has a serious skin disease or discharge and anyone who has touched a dead body. Whether they are a man or a woman, send them away so that the camp where I am living among you will not be made unclean.” So the Israelites obeyed God’s command. They sent those people outside the camp. They did what the Lord had told Moses.
God instructed Moses to move anyone who was ceremonially unclean outside Israel’s camp. This included people with certain skin diseases, bodily discharges, or contact with the dead. The separation protected the holiness of the camp because God dwelt among His people. This ceremonial uncleanness was not necessarily caused by personal sin. God’s presence is holy. Just as Israel was commanded to remove uncleanness from the camp, we should ask God to remove sinful attitudes and harmful habits from our hearts. At the same time, we must never treat sick, grieving, or struggling people as though God has rejected them. Jesus showed compassion and drew near to those whom others avoided. God is holy, and His presence should lead His people toward clean and obedient living.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, cleanse my heart and remove anything that does not please You. Help me live faithfully in Your presence and show kindness to those who are hurting or feel excluded. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Lord Jesus Amen.
