Numbers 5:29–31 ERV: “So this is the law about jealousy. This is what you should do when a woman sins against her husband while she is married to him. Or if the man becomes jealous and thinks his wife has sinned against him, this is what the man should do. The priest must tell her to stand before the Lord. Then the priest will do all these things. This is the law. The husband will not be guilty of doing anything wrong, but the woman will suffer if she has sinned.”
These verses The Law Summarized, conclude the Old Testament law concerning jealousy and suspected unfaithfulness. The matter was brought before the Lord rather than handled through anger, revenge, or secret accusations. Each person was responsible before God for his or her own wrongdoing. Jealousy and suspicion can destroy peace in a home. God does not want us to act from fear or anger. We should bring uncertain situations to Him, seek truth, and allow Him to reveal what is hidden. God knows the innocent, the guilty, and the complete truth.
Father God, when jealousy, suspicion, or fear troubles my heart, help me bring it to You. Reveal the truth, protect the innocent, correct what is wrong, and give me wisdom and peace. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Name Jesus amen.
