This is a powerful moment of divine commissioning and prophetic assurance. God gives Moses a plan: Gather the elders, speak to Pharaoh, expect resistance. God promises miracles and favor, “You will not leave empty-handed.” Obedience may be met with opposition, but God equips us with strategy, signs, and provision. God’s work for restoration echoes this same divine pattern. He is not distant from suffering. His visitation is personal and purposeful. God ties His actions to promises made generations before, showing continuity and faithfulness. Deliverance often comes through struggle, but God equips His people with signs and favor. The Israelites will leave Egypt not as beggars, but as a people honored and enriched. Elders who love the Lord and have lived long lives carry deep wells of wisdom, faith, and testimony. A question that invites their voice should be both reverent and curious.
It reads in Exodus 3:16–22 Easy: Go and call the leaders of Israel to meet. Say to them, “The Lord God has appeared to me. He is the God that your ancestors worshipped. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He said to me, ‘I have been carefully watching my people in Egypt. I have seen the bad things that the Egyptians have done to you. I promise that I will bring you out of your troubles in Egypt. I will lead you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites. It is a land that will give you plenty of good food and drink, enough for everyone.’ ” When you say that, the leaders of the Israelites will listen to you. Then you must go with them to the king of Egypt. Say to him, “The Lord God has met with us. He is the God that we, the Israelite people, worship. So let us go on a journey into the wilderness. That will be a journey of three days. We must offer sacrifices to the Lord our God there.” But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go. Only some great power will make him agree. So I will show him my power! I will do powerful miracles to punish the Egyptians. When they see that, Pharaoh will let you go free. More than that, I will cause the Egyptians to think well of you, my own people. So when you leave Egypt, they will give you many gifts. All the Israelite women will ask their Egyptian friends to give them things. They will ask the women who live near them and those who live with them in their houses. They will ask for silver things, gold things and beautiful clothes. Then you will take those things and you will dress your sons and your daughters with them. In that way, you will take many valuable things away from the Egyptians.’
Father God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, You see the affliction of Your people, You do not turn away. You call us to gather the elders, to speak truth, to declare Your promises, to walk boldly into the places of resistance with Your name on our lips and Your fire in our bones. You are the God who sends, not empty-handed, but with signs and wonders. You stretch out Your hand against injustice, You soften the hearts of those who once oppressed. You turn mourning into movement, bondage into blessing, and scarcity into sacred provision. As You led Israel out of Egypt, lead us out of every place of captivity. Equip us with what we need, wisdom, favor, courage, and community. Let us not go alone, but with Your presence and Your promise. We trust You to restore what was stolen, to honor the legacy of those who came before, and to lift up the humble in Your time. May we walk in obedience, speak with authority, and live as vessels of Your glory. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in the Mighty Name of the Great I AM, Jesus Amen.
