The Lord’s Festival of Unleavened Bread is on the 15th day of the same month. You will eat unleavened bread for seven days. On the first day of this festival, you will have a special meeting. You must not do any work on that day. For seven days, you will bring sacrifices offered as gifts to the Lord. Then there will be another special meeting on the seventh day. You must not do any work on that day.” Leviticus 23:6-8 ERV:
Seven days eat unleavened bread; on the first day hold a holy assembly and do no ordinary work. These verses call us to clear away what spoils spiritual life and to enter a season of intentional holiness. Just as Israel removed leaven from their homes, we’re invited to identify and remove habits, attitudes, and distractions that keep us from wholehearted worship. The command to stop ordinary work and gather for a holy convocation reminds us that rest and communal worship are spiritual disciplines that renew our hearts and reorient our priorities toward God.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, help me remove the leaven in my life. Purify my heart, expose what hinders true worship, and give me the courage to set those things aside. Teach me to rest in Your presence, to honor You with focused worship, and to live each day marked by holiness and gratitude. Love You, thank You, praise You, and give You all the honor and glory in your Mighty Precious Name Amen.
