“If you dedicate your house as holy to the Lord, the priest must decide its price. It doesn’t make any difference if the house is good or bad. If the priest decides on a price, that is the price for the house. But if you want to get the house back, you must add one-fifth to the price. Then you will get the house back. Leviticus 27:9-13 ERV:
These verses remind us that when we dedicate something to God, its value is set by His representative, not by our pride or our shame. Whether the house is “good or bad,” the priest assigns its worth. The passage calls us to honest surrender: what we give to God is measured by His standards, and if we change our mind, restoration requires a cost, an extra fifth. Spiritually, this points to two truths: God values our sincere dedication more than outward appearance, and restoring what we once vowed takes humility and a willingness to make things right. If you’ve promised something to the Lord, time, talent, or treasure, let your heart be honest. If you need to reclaim what you vowed, do so with integrity and the readiness to pay the price of reconciliation.
Dear Lord Jesus, help me to offer what is truly mine with a sincere heart. Give me the courage to honor my commitments and the humility to make amends when I fall short. Teach me to value Your standards above my own pride or shame and lead me in faithful restoration when I need it. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your mighty Precious Name Amen and Amen.
